Meet Mia! Our 2025 Entrepreneur of the Year
Mia, a determined young entrepreneur, is proudly celebrating her fourth year of participating in Lemonade Day. Each year, Mia has made remarkable improvements to her lemonade stand, driven by her desire to enhance her sales and overall customer experience.
In her first year, Mia encountered challenges when many customers lacked cash, leading to lost sales. Learning from that experience, she adapted her business model the following year by offering both cash and digital payment options, ensuring a smoother transaction process for her patrons. With each passing year, she has fine-tuned her lemonade flavors, swapping out those that didn’t sell well for more favored selections among her customers.
Initially, she added candy kabobs to her menu but quickly realized that the heat caused them to melt, presenting challenges during the warmer months. Mia's unwavering business goal is to guarantee satisfaction with every item she sells.
Last year, she took a significant step by investing part of her earnings into purchasing a cotton candy machine, which replaced the candy kabobs with a less perishable treat. This year, she further enhanced her stand by investing in bags and cupholders, addressing the needs of customers who often had to make multiple trips to carry their purchases.
Mia has consistently worked on improving her branding. From updating her logo to creating a vibrant banner and adding a mascot, she has focused on making her stand visually appealing. Initially relying on social media and word of mouth for advertising, she expanded her outreach this year by distributing flyers at church, schools, neighborhoods, and anywhere her journey took her.
With aspirations reaching beyond Lemonade Day, Mia has set her sights on starting her own beverage company. She aims to secure a spot for her lemonade in local stores like United Supermarkets and HEB, eventually expanding her product availability throughout the state of Texas.
Mia hopes to inspire other kids in Lubbock and beyond with her entrepreneurial journey. She believes in the power of hard work and creativity, proving that entrepreneurship, while challenging, can be incredibly rewarding.
